This is a group whose origin are traced from Rumbek in south sudan who moved and settled in pubungu and later divided as explained through stories of the brothers Gipiri and Labongo I’m
The group that followed Gipiri crossed the Nile and settled in the land of Okebu (zombo district) and Lendu (Congo) who intermarried and formed the Alur. Labongo’s group moved to the north- eastern the Acholi land. The Nilotic people live in nothern Uganda and are composed of the Langi (in Lira), Acholi (in Gulu and Kitugum districts), Alur (in Nebbi, Zombo districts), Padhola (eastern- uganda), Lulya and the Jonam
